The Skinny R&D Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Fundamentals class is the only VoIP class designed with the Technical Countermeasures and Technical Operations student in mind. This class is designed to teach personnel in these disciplines the operational characteristics and methods of VoIP enterprise systems. Students will become familiar with VoIP systems as they exist in their normal operational roles. How can one defend a system or exploit it unless the system itself is fully understood? This class fills that gap.
Although VoIP is considered a commercial capability, in reality a properly trained, technical operator can develop and utilize custom VoIP applications for unique field communications requirements.  Starting with the basics of networking and infrastructure, students will establish a foundation in VoIP Telephony. By the end of class students will be able to build, administer, and troubleshoot their own custom VoIP communications system built from commercially available equipment and open source software.
This class is extremely hands-on in nature. In every module on every day students will participate in demonstrations, activities, and labs to reinforce learning objectives. In addition, students will walk away with a range of equipment, projects, and software to ensure they can make their own VoIP laboratory test system. In addition, students will receive a range of equipment, projects, and software allowing them to implement their own VoIP networks and practice course objectives long after class has finished.
